This is seriously one of the best resources I have ever found on creating your own Tile Engine which simultaneously teaches you how to create your own game and map editor. Nick (creator of the videos) takes you through the steps in creating everything and it is all in video format which makes it all easier to follow. The videos are organized well, easy to follow and split into sections so you can follow only the parts you need. This is a beginners, and any other programmers dream!
This is a pretty cool tutorial I came across that teaches you how to create a cool glass effect that you can showcase your logo on or make into something cool.
